Bentley will be creating 300 new jobs as part of their expansion at the Crewe headquarters. They will be adding a research and development centre and design studio in its preparations for building a new SUV in 2016. There will be posts in many sections of the company such as engineering and manufacturing as well as support roles. They have created other jobs recently and this new extension to the work force will take their increase in employment over the last 18 months to 950. At the moment the company has 3,700 staff in Crewe.
This expansion is all part of a £840m investment programme in to the company. In 2013 the company had their best year ever selling 10,120 cars. It is expected that they will sell even more in 2014.
The success of Bentley is not alone in the auto industry as other British car manufacturers are doing well too. Industry data has shown that new car sales rose in the UK in November by 8 percent compared to October. This means that the number of car sales so far in the year was 2.3 million which is already more than sold in 2013.
