Dawson Levy Resourcing are pleased to be recruiting for a Water Network Technician to join an important client of ours working within the Water Industry covering the Cornwall/Devon area.

Purpose:

The purpose of the role is to reduce water leakage and increase consumption across the MOD package this includes duties such as leakage detection, metering, meter reading, data logging, valve operations, network zoning/optimisation and maintaining water quality. Responsible for ensuring both planned and reactive work is completed correctly to meet contractual, legal and internal requirements. To be accountable for water usage patterns on MOD sites: to find and measure 'unaccounted for water'; identify all consumption and manage all data acquisition activities for measurement. Ensure that Crown Fire Standards are complied with across all MOD Sites in Region.

Key Accountabilities:

Understand water usage patterns on site and identity when the Measurement Arrangements or the measurement of Water into Supply is not in accordance with agreed methodologies.
Undertake leakage detection surveys of the sites using a variety of techniques (listening, correlation, step testing, acoustic logging etc)
Install and maintain flow and pressure data logging equipment including fault finding.
Trial and test new leakage detection equipment and techniques.
Ensure all relevant site data is captured (ie, network changes, metering information, records of step tests, surveys etc), recorded and provided to the wider team to allow; the provision of auditable data trails to the MOD; and SUC updates.
Review, maintain and optimise installed pressure management equipment.
Undertake fire hydrant testing and inspection programmes of work
Participate in site optimisation initiatives by providing expert local knowledge to inform decision making to improve the profitability of sites
Collect meter index readings
Install and maintain flow data logging equipment including fault finding
Downloading data streams in accordance with the data capture schedules
Identify and report meter reading & logging discrepancies and anomalies
Carry out data verification
Identify and report defects to flow measurement equipment and carry out basic and minor repairs
Identify and measure all Out of Scope/Consumption volumes following agreed methodology
Assist in the resolution of routine and complex measurement queries
Role model health and safety behaviour and contribute to the creation of a health and safety culture.
Actively contribute to our client to support the delivery of the annual Business Plan

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Knowledge of water supply configurations
Competent numeracy and IT skills
Commercial awareness, the ability to consider the commercial consequences of decision making.
Organisational skills, the ability to meet target and deadlines
Relationship skills, the ability to build relationships at all levels with both internal and external bodies.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical messages in a simple way.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to deal directly with customers in a face to face environment.

Problem solving skills with the ability to investigate problems and interpret findings clearly

A good understanding of clean water networks and the hydraulics of systems
IT literate - i.e. e-mail, Microsoft Word & Excel, web-based company systems
Ability to work unsupervised in all weather conditions utilising correct PPE, lone worker system & safe working practices
Physically fit to lift and move materials, plant and tools with the ability to lift manhole lids and covers safely
Ability to dynamically risk assess site access & working conditions
Ability to communicate with colleagues in person and by telephone or understand communications & instructions in person, by telephone and in writing.
Ability to drive and have full UK Driving Licence - this role involves a varied amount of daily driving to and from sites and client bases.
Trained in Manual Handling
Trained in First Aid to a minimum level of 'First Responder'
Ability to obtain Security Clearance which involves a Criminal Record Check and a full MoD Security Application and associated verification processes. Please note you must have been a resident of the UK for the past 5 years to obtain security clearance.
