We are proud to be partnering with an East Midlands based Contractor going through an exciting but steady expansion phase.

You will support the Group H & S Manager in on and off site safety issues as well as looking at the environmental side of projects.

They're a local contractor with a rich history and real family orientated feel, which involves race days, family events and office banter!

The role will be split between general construction health and safety responsibilities, and specific responsibility for health and safety on our highways and civil engineering projects.

MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE IN CONSTRUCTION OR CIVIL ENGINEERING

Specific responsibilities will include;

* Undertaking site inspections and audits

* Supporting and mentoring operational staff on all matters HSQE

* Attend HSQE team meetings as and when required

* Engage with clients on contracts, and promote collaborative working at every opportunity

* Attend safety days, workshops and conferences and feedback on all key learnings

* Be prepared to present on specific subjects related to divisional type

* Support the on-boarding process of new field teams

* Advise Site Managers on health, safety, wellbeing and welfare always striving for continued improvements

* Investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses

* Provide monthly reports to Manager showing trends and weaknesses

* Writing toolbox talks and safety alerts

* Reviewing draft Construction Documentation at first stage

* To collaborate with client quality teams to fully understand their requirements and expectations

* Review and interpret HSQE requirements within the Contract documents

* Support operational staff with RAMS preparation

* Support the operational team to reduce risk throughout our operations

* Compile and analyse HSQE project based statistics

* Drawing up Highways safe operational practices, and ensuring implementation across our projects

* Making presentations to groups of employees and managers

* Arranging and facilitating health and safety meetings and training courses for employees and operational teams

* Liaising with all relevant stakeholders including but not limited to statutory authorities, clients, residents, suppliers and teams

* Keeping up to date with current legislation and cascading key changes when and as required

In order to be successful in this role you will need a minimum of 4 years’ experience of undertaking work based risk assessments, Health and Safety inspections and audits as well as experience of reviewing safe working method statements and competency of staff. Experience within Construction health and safety and also any health and safety work related to highways is also an advantage.

You should hold the IOSH Managing Safely certification (or equivalent) and in addition you’ll need experience of assisting with accident investigations and near miss reporting
