Teaching Personnel are seeking a full time Class Teacher for a special school in Bradford. The school is located in Wibsey, and caters for pupils aged 11-19 with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, many of whom also have autism spectrum conditions. Students generally have complex combinations of special educational needs, including students with life-limiting conditions or other significant medical needs

The postholder will be responsible for the delivery of a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for young people with a wide range of disabilities to develop a degree of independence and to improve quality of life.

Our client is a ‘Good’ school (Ofsted, 2019), offering Learning opportunities which are appropriately structured for students throughout their school journey, to enable them to become valued members of the wider community with positive self-worth.  Pupils are supported to reach their full potential within a gradient of independence, confidence and resilience so that they have the ability to face the challenges of adult life.

Main Responsibilities will include:

Identifying needs, assessing levels of ability and planning sessions which will meet the requirements of pupils and develop their learning
Facilitating a programme of activities suitable to the age range and abilities of the children, within the resources available and to support the mission and ethos of the school
Keeping records of the children’s development and learning journeys, including creating and monitoring Individual Progress Plans, and share these with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life
Taking a lead role in the development of Education, Health and Care Plans and My Support Plans, in liaison with the Family Liaison Officer, parents, families and other professionals
Supporting students throughout the day in order to develop independence, facilitate participation and learning and develop physical and communication skills
Ensuring all practitioners understand their responsibilities to children with SEN and the school’s approach to meeting these needs
Working as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual students can play, develop and learn
Organising classroom and subject area resources and materials in order to ensure the effective teaching of all students
Applications will be considered from Newly and Fully Qualified Teachers. Due to the nature of pupil needs, many lessons are delivered at P Scale and Primary Level, so you must have the ability to teach across the curriculum and experience of teaching young people with Special Educational Needs. You will ideally have experience within a specialist setting, although we will consider applications from teachers with a sound understanding of implementing Education, Health and Care Plans and with skills in planning and delivering lessons that have been adapted to meet the needs of SEN Learners.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see (url removed)/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later
