Motor Claims Handler is required to work for our locally based client. Thge role will include:

* Review and record claims, validate policy coverage, contractual obligations and allocate appropriate codes and reserves.

* Make Indemnity enquiries, using most appropriate method (phone, correspondence, Experts).

* Evaluate quantum by gathering relevant evidence.

* Support clients to ensure that claims are handled efficiently, proactively and within insurer service levels.

* Clearly explain decisions on Indemnity, negotiating settlement within authority level where appropriate.

* Identify and report claims trends and policy inefficiencies to line manager

* Respond to all written and phone enquiries clearly, courteously and within service levels stipulated by the relevant Contract.

* Review claims regularly and proactively using diary system to ensure accurate reserves and a 1:1 closing ratio is maintained.

* Develop relationships with clients and key clients.

* Liaise with and control experts to ensure cases not abandoned to them.

* Assist where required in general office administration to ensure smooth running of office.

* Comply with external and internal regulations and statutory policies, procedures and regulations.

* Attend Conferences/Consultations when appropriate

* Any other duties that might be required from time to time

The successful candidate must have at least 2 years’ experience handling motor claims, along with a detailed understanding of general insurance principle, both the Company and Lloyds Markets and knowledge of FCA rules and guidelines relating to commercial and private customers. Additional property, liability or personal lines claims experience would be beneficial. We are looking for a professional individual who is able to prioritise their own workload to ensure deadlines are met and work under pressure without supervision. The ability to build rapport with both internal and external customers is essential, an excellent telephone manner and written skills are essential as clear and effective communication is key for this role. Confident numeracy skills will also be required and a keen eye for detail when entering data is expected. Experience using OpenGI would be advantageous and knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook required
