About the role

Here at Babcock International, we operate a significant outsourced contract for the provision of education, training and PSO services to the Royal Navy. The training services comprise of naval technical and tactical training and education, delivered by Babcock Trainers as well as training support. The contract is entering an exciting new phase with renewed focus on training innovation, optimisation and collaborative working and this role will provide the support and drive to achieve successful deliver of all aspects of the contract in this new phase.

We are looking to recruit a Learning and Development Team Leader to line manage the small local team and ensure the outputs of the Learning and Development Organisation's (LDO) Charter, and PSO deliverables, are delivered to military learners and meet full customer satisfaction.

Main Responsibilities:

Co-ordinate the management, planning, delivery and assurance including SQEP maintenance of allocated Babcock LDO training delivery and support services including the e-Learning and PSO provision.
Act as Service Resettlement Advisor to provide Service Leavers with comprehensive resettlement support service
Support Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) screening and provide coaching support strategies.
Support hub staff with the delivery of Function Skills tuition and assessment.
Support hub staff to deliver Learning and Development Interviews to promote Lifelong Learning and funding routes.
Work closely with RN and National Authorities/Agencies to ensure a consistent and compliant output

What do I need to do the role?

You will need to hold level 4 or above qualification in education (PGCE, DTLLS or Cert Ed.)

We would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:

Consolidated experience and knowledge of Royal Navy Conditions of Service, Duty of Care, Career Management, Career Training, Service Education and Civilian Accreditation.
Consolidated experience in delivering support to SpLD and Functional Skills learners.
Hold or be working towards Level 5 qualification in Supporting Adults with Dyslexia and Co-occurring Difficulties - this can be gained once in post
Experience supporting learners through Dyslexia Adult Screening Test (DAST).
ECDL or equivalent demonstrable proficiency in using IT (hardware / software) within the workplace.

What else do I need to know?

The main place of work will be HMS Raleigh with additional line manager responsibilities for Babcock LDO staff at other hubs (Drake and Culdrose).

This role is a permanent 37 hrs per week term time contract and requires a high degree of flexibility; with a requirement for occasional travel between sites within the UK. Term time contract to align with Raleigh military leave dates.

You must be able to achieve the appropriate level of Security Clearance.
