Job Description:
A Caretaker/Groundsman is need at a prestigious country estate near Thirsk in North Yorkshire. With many acres of woodlands and gardens, this role would suit energetic and self-motivated candidates who want to work outdoors. Caretaking duties will include basic maintenance around the house, routine checks of plant and machinery, organising contractors, event supervision, and security. DIY skills are an advantage. For the Grounds, only basic gardening skills would be needed.

Key Responsibilities:
The Main House
Regular checks and record keeping of plant and machinery
General house maintenance and inspections
Organise and oversee service contracts and contractors visits
The Park and Garden
Keep Parkland Centre garden tidy
Fencing, track maintenance, pest control
Tree work – clearance and trimming
Assisting set up of events
Garden maintenance for communal areas
Grass maintenance, cutting, seeding, etc.
Other roles
Maintenance of garden machinery and tools
Assisting other departments on the Estate
Driving the family or other members of staff
Delivering or collecting goods / items
Knowledge/Experience/Skills
Essential:
Okay with working outdoors in all weathers
A full driving licence is required for this role
A solid ‘can-do’ attitude and willing to get stuck in
Desirable:
DIY skills
Experience with plant maintenance
Tractor driving experience
Groundsman/Gardening experience
Hours:
Mon to Thurs 8:00 to 4:30, Fri 8:00 to 3:30 (½ lunch and 2x 15-minute breaks)
Occasional weekend events (approx. 10 per year) paid time in lieu
