Sewell Wallis are proud to be working on behalf of a favourite clients in Sheffield with their search for an Assistant Financial Controller. This is a VC backed business, a highly acquisitive service sector business who have grown significantly over the last 5 years. As they continue down their path of growth they are looking to add an additional qualified accountant to their team to deputise for the Financial Controller. This is such a good opportunity if you are looking for a hands on, broad role within a company that is truly going somewhere.

Sitting as part of a leading finance team you will report into the Financial Controller and will take responsibility for the following role;

-Preparation and review of monthly management accounts for various group entities, deputise for FC in overall review of month end group management accounts
-Cashflow forecasting as required by the group
-To prepare the annual financial statements for various group entities and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, through consultation with the auditors, FC and CFO
-To be a key contact for external auditors and manage the annual audit for various group entities, deputise for FC
-To liaise with the external tax advisers regarding the preparation of tax provisions and annual computations
-To ensure tax, VAT and PAYE are paid on time/issues are considered, preparation of quarterly Group VAT return
-To maintain all the accounting records for any entities and work with the business in developing structures under the guidance of the FC and CFO
-Staff pensions monthly reconciliation and payment
-Monthly commissions reconciliation from standalone system
-To provide support to the CFO and CEO and business stream heads with ad hoc reports
-Management of the finance team - ensure all tasks are performed on a timely basis and the cover is available when necessary
-To assist the FC on key projects including acquisitions, integrations and ensuring the related financial and regulatory issues are handled by the finance team

To be successful in your application you must be able to demonstrate the following;

-A qualified Accountant - ACA, ACCA or CIMA and a strong technical accountant that ideally comes from an SME background with strong manual accounting skills.
-Excellent analytical and spreadsheet skills with the ability to utilise VLookups and Pivot Tables as a minimum
-That you are a driven individual, who is capable of working in an business that works at pace, under strict time constraints
-A leader of people who can successful motivate, train and develop a small team
