The Client:

Our client is a leading manufacturer of stainless steel components for the construction industry. Trusted and respected, they advise, design and manufacture industry approved products which comply with Eurocode, NHBC and BBA requirements.

A new and exciting opportunity for a Specification Manager has become available within their prestigious Specification Department. Specification Managers are renowned for their technical knowledge, customer service and excellent consultative approach to sales. You will be liaising with mainly Architects, Engineers, Estimators and Design Managers, with a view of introducing products at the beginning phase of the project design process.

A full training period will be given to the successful individual, you will receive information on products, customers, target market, systems and internal contacts to enable you to make a success of the job role, full support will be in place.

What the role involves:

You will primarily be office based using the telephone and emails as the point of contact, however you would be expected to visit sites as requested and attend business meetings to generate the interest required, this will all be based on how the client wants to operate proceedings. You will be working directly under the Spec/Design Manager whom you will be liaising with heavily.

Specification selling allows you to directly influence the product selection for a project and puts the control in the hands of the manufacturer. A Specification Sales Job is an exciting and rewarding position that should be considered by anyone looking to develop a sales career in the building products industry.

Specification selling requires a more technical approach and a different skill set to traditional account sales, and with the building industry’s commitment to sustainability coupled with the tightening of building regulations, specifiers now look primarily at product benefits onsite and factors, such as, lifetime building operating costs and durability, rather than just purchase price.

You will also be speaking with sub-contractors once initial interest has been raised, this will give you the opportunity to advise and give product information to the actual buyer, then leading to quotes being raised on projects/products leading to orders being secured.
