Job Description: Senior Nursery Practitioner (Early Years)

Tomberries Nursery Ltd is looking for an Senior Nursery Practitioner to join their Friendly and caring team for their home from home nursery setting. Tomberries Nursery Ltd is a small privately run nursery catering for 30 children aged 12months-5 years old. The Nursery is open between the hours of 7.30am - 6.30pm.

Purpose of job and primary objectives for the Early Years Practitioner:

* Raise the quality of Early Years provision, including physical, emotional, social and intellectual education and care for children in the setting

* To promote excellent practice at all times

* To support other practitioners in the skills and behaviours that safeguard and promote good outcomes for children

* Practice and promote current legal requirements, national policies and guidance on health and safety, safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children.

* Encourage all practitioners to recognise when a child is in danger or at risk of harm and know how to act to protect them

* Maintain a positive and proactive culture amongst practitioners in being able to identify and support children whose progress, development or well-being is affected by changes or difficulties in their personal circumstances, ensuring staff know when to refer them to colleagues for specialist support

* Ensure all staff demonstrate the positive values, attitudes and behaviour which the setting expects from the children

* To respect the confidentiality of information received about each child and their family

* To encourage, motivate and mentor student and trainees in the company policies, procedures and standards

* Any other reasonable duties and required by the manager/deputy manager

Early Years Practitioner Person Specification:

* Good communication skills both written and verbal

* A warm, caring and patient nature

* Ability to accurately assess and record child development

* A sense of responsibility and an awareness of child safety issues and safeguarding

* Understanding of the EYFS

* NVQ 2/3 will consider unqualified if training

* Experience working with children aged 0-5 years
