The Corporate Affairs team forms part of our Corporate functions and is responsible for providing support services to all other ScottishPower (SP) businesses. The four Senior Corporate Affairs Manager roles we are advertising are additional roles in the team. This is an extremely exciting time for our industry, and we know people are central to building a better future, quicker. Given the number and variety of projects we have in the pipeline, we are seeking new talent to join our team.

The Senior Corporate Affairs Managers roles are within the Corporate Affairs Team reporting to the Director of Engagement. You will work in close collaboration with the Corporate Affairs management team and senior business representatives to plan, implement and deliver external relations activities and internal projects.
Bringing specialist skills to the role, in either media, government affairs, policy or brand management, and, by working together in a matrix-style approach, you will deploy these skills in a complementary manner in order to project manage, develop and lead the delivery of strategic projects.
You will be required to challenge and shape business initiatives in line with strategic objectives and external positioning, delivering a better future, quicker and promoting the sense of one ScottishPower.

You will support the Director of Engagement, CEO and senior management in the effective management of SP's external representation. Core to the role will be accountability for day-to-day activities in relation to your particular specialist skills, including for example ongoing monitoring and analysis of the external environment to identify opportunities; communicating complex subject matter to a range of internal and external stakeholders; identifying and analysing risks and issues; engaging with senior stakeholders in relation to issues l impacting the annual corporate affairs plan; provision of expert advice to the businesses; preparation of management committee papers; and preparation of relevant political and regulatory updates.

You will be responsible for advising business and corporate affairs colleagues to formulate, position and promote key messages that underpin the achievement of SP and Iberdrola's strategic objectives, challenging gaps or weaknesses in SP's positioning with senior business representatives.

You will conceive, plan, and execute discrete projects in line with the longer term strategic plan and campaigns, closely aligned to identified business priorities and strategic objectives, leading engagement with a broad range of senior external and internal stakeholders, tailoring and positing messaging and activity to best fit the audience and company objectives.

You will also proactively identify opportunities and threats in dealing with complex cross business issues, and work with senior management across all SP businesses to embed strategies to address these. You will deputise for the Director of Engagement and Corporate Affairs management team on media, regulatory, policy, stakeholder, brand or public policy issues, and represent them in external meetings when required.

Skills and Requirements
* Excellent interpersonal and networking skills; able to build effective working relationships at all organisational levels and capable of influencing and challenging through these relationships. Excellent communication and presentation (oral and written) skills - able to be very persuasive with international, governmental and regulatory stakeholders, for example, or media audiences, including expertly tuning the message to the recipient
* Excellent external networking skills; will have an existing network of relationships in your own field with the ability to build an excellent network across a broad spectrum of external parties
* Enthusiastic team player, willing to share knowledge, contacts and workload in order to deliver shared objectives, and able to work in a pressured environment with the ability to see the global picture as well as the long-term implications of today's decisions
* Excellent understanding and experience in both energy market commercial issues and the regulatory/public policy sphere
* Strong commercial acumen and alignment to SP's business priorities
* Strong sense of accountability and customer service in order to build long-term trust and respect
* Strong interest in SP's and Iberdrola's strategy and ambitions; exhibiting keenness to play a role in delivering this and the appetite to do more
* Ability to synthesize complex and overlapping policy issues and communicate succinct explanations of impacts and priority
* Willingness to develop, broaden competencies and try new things

Special Requirements
You must be ready and able to travel regularly across the UK (principally Glasgow, London and Liverpool), as well as within the EU (eg Brussels, Madrid) in order to attend meetings and events and to develop networks with colleagues.

* You will most likely hold a degree or relevant professional qualification
* Expert business/industry knowledge or proven track record of operating at a senior level and engaging with senior stakeholders in their area of specialism
* Proven track record of excellent relationship management at all levels
* Ability to utilise a network of contacts across the business to keep up to date with business strategy, issues, and initiatives
* Proven expertise and skills across one or more of the following specialist areas: communications, media, government, politics, campaigning, brand, reputation, stakeholder engagement, public policy, regulatory, competition and energy commercial issues
* Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
* Positive, confident, collaborative, proactive, enthusiastic, always ready for the next challenge
Able to work effectively under pressure.

What we offer
We have 4 permanent roles to offer with specialisms in either media, social media, policy or brand management. We offer a salary for this role from £43,520 per annum plus a bonus of up to 10% and personal private health care.
