Job Description: Role: Project Manager - Manufacturing R&D
Location: Sheffield
Contract: Initially 4 months
Salary: Competitive

A Project Manager position has become available with one of our most prestigious and exciting clients.

This role will be working within a newly formed team, collaborating with a broad range of academic and industrial stakeholders within Nuclear and adjacent industries. You will be the first "port of call" for all queries, and you will play a key role in ensuring that each project is run in accordance with both client's requirements and those of the organisation.

We're looking for someone with Project Management experience, preferably from a Manufacturing, R&D or Engineering Quality Management background.

Key Responsibilities:
*Responsible for the on-time, on-budget delivery of R&D projects and strategic projects in accordance with the Centre's Quality Management System.
*Initial project planning, including estimation of timescales and resources required to achieve client deliverables.
*Monitor and manage project resources and costs and report progress against project budgets as required.
*Monitor and support project procurement processes, working with the relevant university departments.
*Review project progress against overall plans and report any areas of concern to the appropriate management.
*Monitor and report on progress of the organisation's activities against set KPIs.
*Maintain organisation's Master Schedule
*Identify the need for any remedial actions in order to ensure project deliverables are met. Initiate, or escalate the need for, such actions as appropriate. This could for example include negotiating for additional resource as necessary.
*Provide regular progress reports for each project in accordance with client requirements.
*Monitor and maintain Health and Safety project and conformance documentation.
*Working with the Facilities Manager, schedule equipment usage to ensure best utilisation of available resources.
*Support technical reviews with staff and Project Stakeholders.
*Liaise with members and equipment suppliers to ensure best practices are being adhered to.
*Communicate organisation's best practice.
*Occasional travel as required by the role.

Person Specification:
1.An honours degree in Business or Engineering (or equivalent experience).
2.Good IT skills, to include high competency in using Microsoft Project and the Office suite.
3.Experience of leading projects in a commercial environment and interfacing with customers/stakeholders at all levels.
4.Proven track record of managing projects to deadlines.
5.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience of writing reports and delivering presentations.
6.Excellent customer service skills, with experience of responding effectively to ensure customer satisfaction.
7.Ability to creatively analyse and solve problems with an appreciation of longer-term implications.
8.Ability to assess and organise resources, and plan and progress work activities to ensure on-time delivery of projects.
9.Experience of project management methodologies, project life cycles, change control processes and configuration control of project documentation.
10.Experience of project risk and opportunity management.
11.Experience or understanding of Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), estimating and costing techniques.
12.Knowledge of health and safety documentation e.g. Risk Assessments, COSHH, Safe Operating Procedures (SOP).
13.Operate effectively with minimal supervision.
14.Experience in the delivery of R&D or process improvement projects.

This position is initially for a 4 month period, but could be extended.
