Job Description

Purpose of the job

The purpose of the Project Engineer (Electrical) is to support projects, act as the site electrical SME and to support the maintenance strategy at a prestigious Cambridge. To work closely with the project, continuous improvement and site operational teams to develop support and drive projects, programs, processes and behaviours to materially improve asset reliability, reduce maintenance costs and to meet the clients needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to prove and stretch credentials on an industry leading research & development new build on a prestigious account.

Main duties and responsibilities

· Supporting all electrical aspects of client lead projects by assessing impact, identifying requirements, isolations and processes.

· Part of the continuous improvements team implementing projects and/or changes identified through the maintenance strategy reviews.

· Being the site electrical SME and the site electrical QS (Qualified Supervisor) assessing and signing off new minor electrical installations and producing associated certification.

· Being a site appointed LVAP and HVAP as required within the defined contract.

· Supporting site investigations and route cause analysis of plant or process failures or incidents and implementing resulting corrective and preventative actions.

· Championing the continuous improvements of the sites electrical plant and procedures.

Person Specification


Time served engineering apprenticeship or equivalent.

Member of or working towards membership of relevant professional institute, e.g. CIBSE, IET.
Technical training qualifications in electrical engineering (inspection & testing, 18 th edition)
Recognised H&S qualification (IOSH or NEBOSH).


Minimum 5 year's experience in building services.
Extensive computer literacy skills (excel, visio etc).
Excellent knowledge of the operation of electrical services and plant.
Strong problem-solving skills, technically adept and analytical.
2391 inspection and testing
Working knowledge of BMS and control theory

Knowledge of Building Management Systems / Pharma / Industrial Process / Manufacturing
Experienced in conducting and leading route cause analysis investigations and resulting corrective and preventative actions.
