Job Description: The key purpose of the Operations and Planning Manager will be to translate our business plans, sales forecasts and real time sales into long term resource plans, monthly programmes of work and weekly work schedules for our skilled in-house teams.

The role is both strategic in terms of creating long-term resource plans and programmes of works, as well as operational leading a team of schedulers programming in house teams, subcontractors, local authority street works notices and coordinating plant and materials.

The priority for this role will be delivering exceptional on time, quality and efficient delivery to our customers.

Key responsibilities of the Operations and Planning Manager:

Inputting to the business planning and budgeting process
Translating business plans into long term resource plans
Assisting Delivery Director to recruit to the resource plan
Reacting in real time to the work volumes within our design and project teams to update resource requirements
Growing, mentoring and optimising the works scheduling team
Creating daily/weekly work programmes maximising delivery on time and labour efficiency
Coordinating plant and material requirements
Coordinating Local Authority street works permits and traffic management requirements
Reporting on KPIs such as delivery on time, labour efficiency, utilisation, re-work etc.
Developing and maintaining compelling relationships with all stakeholders
As part of the Operations Senior Management Team, grow the team rapidly in line with our ambitious growth plans
Knowledge required of the Operations and Planning Manager:

Knowledge of utility works
Strong understanding of local authority street works processes and requirements
Understanding of customer service and its impact on business performance
Knowledge of utility scheduling systems and processes
Skills & Attributes of the Operations and Planning Manager:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain long term relationships
Ability lead, motivate, build and mentor teams
Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
Proactive and motivated approach, with high degree of drive
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders
Ability to put our customers in the centre of everything we do
Ability to operate in dynamic environments
Experience & Qualifications of the Operations and Planning Manager:

Excellent track record in similar utilities based operational/planning role
Strong organisational and communication skills with experience of managing multiple stakeholders.
Ideally third level qualification (HNC/Degree)
Experience of using MS Office suite and scheduling systems
Track record in successfully growing motivated and engaged teams
