Job Description: Reporting to: Finance Director/ Group FC and Divisional Director (strong dotted line)
Main purpose of role:
To prepare, co-ordinate and control the production of accurate and timely financial information for all sites within the Division
To ensure that site profit & loss account, balance sheet, procedures and controls comply with Group policies and acceptable accounting principles
To assist the Divisional Director in the interpretation of financial information to ensure achievement of operating targets
To actively promote and implement the compliant adoption of Group financial initiatives
To proactively assist the Divisional Director and Finance Director in identifying and implementing cost reduction initiatives and commercial enhancements
To review, take responsibility for and line manage territory accountant(s)Main tasks:
To produce accurate and timely monthly accounts for each site, which will require the candidate to do this themselves for a number of sites as well as managing a territory accountant(s) to do the same for further sites
Manage the activity of the territory accountant(s) in the Division and to ensure the finance staff deliver agreed targets and objectives
Ensure all financial information is produced accurately and on-time
Prepare the monthly accounts, budgets, forecasts and year-end packs
Ensure site financial controls are effectively implemented and monitored
Prepare such other financial reports as may from time to time be required
To assist the Divisional Director in the interpretation of financial information in order to maximise the financial performance of the Division
Prepare and present financial information to the Divisional management team
To liaise closely with the Finance Director/ Group FC, keeping him fully informed of current and potential future issues which may affect the financial performance of the Division and the Company
Undertake such ad hoc projects and tasks as the Finance Director/ Group FC may require
Ensure compliance with all Group accounting procedures and policies
Manage the day-to-day performance of the Territory/ Management Accountant(s) and to ensure the resourcing of all Accountant positions in the Division with suitably qualified staff
To ensure adequate succession planning is implemented throughout the Divisional accounting team so that staff shortages do not impact adversely the achievement of agreed targets
To undertake such other tasks as may, from time to time, be reasonably required

Leadership skills – able to lead the Divisional finance team in the interpretation and implementation of financial, operational and strategic objectives

Staff development – able to develop the skills of the Territory Accountant(s) through close liaison with HR
Commercial awareness – credible, supportive and pro-active business partner to the Divisional Director
Communication skills – highly developed written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively to audiences of all sizes
Data rational – able to compile, interpret and present data
Time management – able to deliver business critical reports accurately and on-time
Change management – must demonstrate the ability to readily accept and implement change
Qualifications/ experience:
A formal accountancy qualification (ACA/ CIMA/ACCA)
Must have at least 5 years relevant experience in a similar position.
Multi site experience preferably in a high volume/ low value branch network environment
Highly developed Microsoft Excel skills
Location:
Frequent travel to sites across Division North & North East of England.
