Job Description: Protocol is delighted to be working with an education provider in Hertfordshire to recruit their Deputy Head of Science on a maternity contract for between 6-12 months.
The post-holder will be a dynamic and inspirational leader with a clear focus on learner outcomes. You will have a thorough understanding of quality processes with a focus on improvement in teaching, learning and assessment, whilst ensure that the department is compliant with all college systems and policies.

Role responsibilities
Manage the agreed quality processes and systems; course review; internal/external verification, student satisfaction, learning platform and lesson observations; work with colleagues to deliver a quality focused student experience.
Teach a minimum of 340 hours on a range of courses, as required, demonstrating high standards of teaching, learning and attainment, whilst ensuring continuous improvement in own teaching to support positive student outcomes.
Work with the head of curriculum and other colleagues to ensure the timetabling and delivery of teaching and learning is effective.
Work with the head of curriculum, and quality and innovation colleagues, create and deliver a personalised teaching and learning support plan for teaching staff, whilst ensuring each plan provides inspiration and direction required to deliver outstanding teaching and learning.
To support the head of curriculum with the creation of the Self-Assessment-Report (SAR) and the execution of the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) to ensure the curriculum area continues to progress to excellence.

The person & qualifications
A level 5 teaching qualification
A degree level qualification in a Science subject.
Experience in teaching up to KS5 in your specialist area.
Evidenced track record of managing and/or implementing a range of quality processes and systems within a further education environment.
A strong course leader who delivers multiple and diverse teaching methods, which provide high quality success outcomes.
Experienced observer of classroom and workplace teaching and learning assessments.
Experience in curriculum development.
