This is brand a new role within Viridor and is very much an exciting opportunity to have a real impact on the West Sussex contract. We are looking for a Commercial Waste Enforcement Officer to join the team at our Ford Materials Recycling Facility (MRF), with travel to our Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC). This role is offered as a 6-month contract, working 37.5 hours a week.

What will you be doing?

As our Commercial Waste Enforcement Officer, you will assist in identifying commercial waste and enforce this with help from the Council.

You will work on site with site staff to inspect trade type or other vehicles to determine waste origins. You'll assess the site gate staff and provide training as required, particularly in matters of conflict management. The Commercial Waste Enforcement Officer will analyse CCTV footage to obtain evidence of suspected trade waste abuse, interpreting ANPR data to identify trends and potential trade waste abusers.

The successful candidate will create standard and specific letters to suspected persons and deal with responses. You'll generate and maintain accurate records of investigations carried out and their associated outcomes, providing evidence as required to enable prosecution of persistent offenders.

Additionally, the Commercial Waste Enforcement Officer will manage bodycam and DEMS systems and downloads, ensuring that all relevant staff are fully conversant with their use.

What do you need?

- Experience of database analysis of ANPR and CCTV systems
- Experience of working in busy and changing environments
- Experience of working in an operational environment
- IOSH qualification
- SIA or equivalent licence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be accurate, diligent and self-motivated
- Self-confidence to work on own and as part of wider team
- Experience of conflict management and resolution
- Full UK driving licence
