Job Description: Bid/Proposals Manager 

We have an exciting new opportunity with our client who are a leading civil engineering firm working across a variety of projects in sectors such as Utilities, Highways and Rail. They offer a broad range of contracting services to assist with the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects across the UK. They are a leading supplier of solutions in street lighting, signals, communications systems and all associated civil engineering as well as being involved in the design and build process. 

As a result of continued rapid growth a role has opened up for an ambitious, high calibre Bid/Proposals Manager to join their well-established team and based out of their Nottingham office. 

The ideal candidate will be someone with experience of the bidding process, which will include public sector bid requirements and a strong working knowledge of Highways England and Local Authority bidding. Additionally, the role will involve developing the firms commercial approach for new opportunities and focusing on the unique selling points that set them apart in the bidding process. You will be required to create engaging bids that help to convey the value that the firm can add across a range of products. 

Key responsibilities: 

To lead and manage the end to end bid process from identification of opportunity through to project delivery.
Arrange and lead meetings with colleague and stakeholders to create quality content to submit across a range of products.
To understand and work within client budgets when arranging bids.
Develop relevant bid strategies in conjunction with Directors and Heads of Department to achieve end goals and right results.
Generate articulate and well thought out proposals that match client requirements and deliver solutions aligned with the bid strategy.
Prepare responses to client questions and collate, format and present all major bid submissions across the business. 

Strong background and relevant experience in a similar role.
Exceptional level of both written and verbal communication skills.
Strong working knowledge of a range of Microsoft suite programmes including Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Project.
Able to work both individually and as part of a team in pressurised environment and to deadlines.
Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of the competitive marketplace in which you will be operating.
The ability to work at a senior management level both internally and with clients. Also be able to challenge the status quo when required in order to understand bid requirements.
A background in highways, street lighting and or civil engineering.
